Boy Geniuses, Dead Zone Dilettantes, Even God--Midseason Has Arrived
Courtesy of E! Online
Before basketball's March Madness monopolizes the
schedule, get ready for Midseason Madness on the tube.
And E! Online has your courtside seat. Don't expect
any major upsets or sparkling Cinderella tales. This
midseason--despite a super kid named Malcolm--is
pretty much the same old, same old.
There're cops from Gary David Goldberg, docs from
Steven Bochco and Peter Berg and lots of animation
from folks like David Spade and (gasp!) Kevin Smith.
And there are lots of new families on the box.
Speaking of which, check out our feature on the raging
birthrate of f***ed-up TV families--at a time when the
nets are talking about a return to hard-core family
values. Well, some family values these are.
...
For many indie fans, the idea of director Kevin Smith
going mainstream spells the beginning of the end. But
then again, they probably liked Mallrats. This
animated spinoff of the Sundance award-winning film
has been getting positive buzz, despite the fact that
ABC has yet to share the goods. Go figure. The show
reprises the slacker characters of Dante, a New Jersey
convenience store clerk, and his buddies Randal, Jay
and Silent Bob. New to the scenario is Leonardo
Leonardo, a Lex Luther type who sees Dante and Randal
as his archenemies. Word from Smith: "So far, it's
clean, but it's really, really funny." What else did
you expect him to say?
Voicing: Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Kevin Smith,
Jason Mewes and Alan Rickman
