I had heard of CLERKS way back when it debuted at Sundance but I never got around to seeing it in the theatres. As soon as it hit video though, I got it and IMMEDIATELY became a Smith follower.
When MALLRATS dropped, I was in the cineplex the night it came out and was surrounded by hundreds of loyal CLERKS fans. I still rank seeing Mallrats in the theatres as one of the best movie screenings of my life. I know it sounds odd, but to be in a place that screams out "DANTE" as soon as we see Gil Hicks ok screen was an everlasting moment.
CHASING AMY came out and I had been anticipating it for months. I missed the Chasing Amy Gala, but I saw it twice the day it premiered in New York City.
So, for an answer, I'd say since 1994. And ever loyal since.
