You could always dip the gloves in red latex (you may need to special order that, or if you live in a metropolitan area a local art supply store might have it. Pearl Art Stores are great for that sort of thing. Or you might even have a S&M store nearby that might carry body latex.)

Also there is a product that you can usually find in a hardware store (ask, because you never can tell where they'll put it on the shelves) that you dip things into and it coats them with a thick layer of colored rubber. I'm not sure what it's called, but I found it in the first hardware store I checked so I know it's fairly easily available.

So in essense: latex is the way to go.
