I just had a hell of a wild thought...

I remember reading in the paper a story about how movie musicals are at an all-time low in popularity (except if they're animated), and how some people are hoping for a smash hit that'll revive the movie genre.

Then I thought... What if Kevin Smith made a musical? A good old-fashioned rock opera, even, with the usual dick-n-fart jokes? (The Ultimate Jersey Musical???) I couldn't help but keep a smirk on my face for a good number of minutes.

Think about it, though... Kev HAS said he wants to diversify himself in scriptwriting. I'm thinking maybe he could find some Broadway songwriter in New York to collaborate with, and put together a fun song-and-dance extravaganza around some modern-day Jersey-life story, complete with the rock styles of the moment and his usual array of dick and fart jokes and everyday banter. Sure, it's a huge box-office risk, but if Kev "kept it real", I'm sure the curiosity factor would make this a decent hit.

I know it's a ridiculous idea. But I can't help but crack a smile imagining a choreographed routine in front of the Quick Stop involving dozens of dancers dressed like average everyday slacker-types jamming in precision unison to some hard-rock number, or Jay doing a solo singing the praises of cannabis.

Out of curiosity... how well CAN Jay sing? Anyone at Askew HQ care to tell me? :)

That's my wacky thought for the day. I just had to get it out of my system.

Peace and Karats, Thomas
