I agree that the original beginning was less than stellar, and while some of the blame may be the writing (even though who the hell am I? Kevin is a wonderful writer, but am glad that it was redone), I believe that much of the faults of Mallrats rests in the casting of Michael Rooker and Jeremy London. While Rooker is a fine actor in many films, it does not appear that physical comedy is his forte. Also, what is with the air guitar playing by Jay and Bob? That always made me cringe. However, I LOVE Mallrats, and would take a bullet for the movie.
