: ...if I say that I couldn't tell right away which scenes in The Phantom Menace were shot digitally, and which were shot on film? It was only after I read about those scenes, and then went back and looked more carefully, that I saw a real difference. So am I just not on the ball here?
I think that the difference between what Lucas did and what I'm proposing is that Lucas used a High Definition Digital Camera and used a lot of filters and other such devices to make the footage look similar to their celluloid counterparts. I'm proposing using a standard Digital recording, via Handheld 3ccd camera's. the commercial devices that are available to those of us with limited cash flow ($1000-$5000) offer a different quality of video than, say, a High Definition digital camera, which go for quite a lot more dough. (Professional Camera's are around the $100,000, if I recall correctly).... So I think that there must be a difference in the recording quality....
But I could be wrong.
