Goofus was my hero as a kid because he NEVER did what he was supposed to do. Every episode was like this:
First Frame:
"Gallant offers his seat to the elderly women on the bus." (Gallant was always looking well groomed with a curteous smile on his face).
Second Frame:
"Goofus tells the old lady she better get the fuck out of his seat and give him her purse." (Goofus looking like a total derelict with a really evil look on his face.)
Didn't they think you're average kid would thing Gallant was a nothing but a geek and hope Goofus would evetually beat the shit out of him?
Goofus was a hoot.
