Here is what a Catholic movie review site has said about Dogma and the Catholic Leagues attacks on it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toronto will also host the North American premiere of the already-controversial "Dogma" (beating the upcoming New York Film Festival later in September.) However, one notably anti-Catholic film slipping under the radar is director Lasse Halstrom's adaption of John Irving's "The Cider House Rules." (John Irving wrote the books on which "Simon Birch" and "The World According To Garp" were based.) "The Cider House Rules," which glamorizes an abortionist in the 1920's and depicts pro-life Christians as idiots, premieres September 12th. Like "Dogma," this film has a definite U.S. release date slated in October. It has attracted very little, if any, of the Catholic League's attention, however.

Editor's note: Several people have e-mailed and asked why I don't support the Catholic League's Disney boycott - because it's not a Disney movie, and never was, that's why. Why isn't the Catholic League boycotting Lion's Gate? The Disney Corporation would have a strong case for libel right about now, as the true culprits are being ignored.

The person who puts on the site, while he isn't a big fan of the movie,(I wonder if he has even seen it) also sees the hypocrisy in the Catholic Leagues actions. We all know, of course, that the league couldn't get enough press if they start to attack smaller companies. They attack Dogma, with the logic that Disney = news. (Even if the film was done by a subsidiary, and Disney had nothing to do with it.) So, they attack a film that they haven't seen, and, seemingly, from the inaccuracy of their articles, know nothing about because it, by some distance relation, was once related to the Disney company. It is actually kind of funny to watch.
