I don't mean to be a wet rag here, but even if you did find the names and addresses of these folks' agents (how you normally contact them), I doubt seriously that your students would get much of a response. Generally, celebrities have pretty full schedules and reading a book and writing a review of it (if I've understood you correctly) for a student they don't know, is not, IMHO, something they would agree to do. Kids at that age face enough rejection as it is. I'd hate to see them embark on an activity with a low probability of receiving any response, much less a positive one.

I think you'd have a whole lot more luck asking them to seek a review from an adult outside of the school (and possibly outside their family, as well). Maybe they could even critique the review that they got rather than writing their own (though this would be a different learning objective). I think your students have a much better chance of success asking adults they know rather than busy celbrities that they don't.

: I know this is a bit random, but I had no idea who else to ask.

: I am a high school English teacher, and I need help with a class assignment. My students have created book review forms, and, in addition to reviewing books on their own, they are sending letters requesting guest reviews from anyone they choose. All the reviews will be added to the school library's card catalog system, we'll have some fundraisers to buy books that are not in the library, and we'll have some fun reading letters. One of my students is currently composing a letter to Kevin and, obviously, we have figured out how to reach him. However, due to my ignorance of the film industry, I have no idea how to find other screenwriter and director mailing addresses. My students and I have tried to be creative, but we're not finding much. I know one student is looking for the guys who did The Matrix, but all she can find is their names. Another was looking for the people who made Smoke Signals.

: To make a long story short, how do you send a letter to a screenwriter or director?

: Thanks,
: denise
