: Thought I'd chime in with a quick review of both the flick (no spoilers) and the event itself.
: Overall the event was a blast. Certainly it wasn't the big premiere that was onced talked about on these boards, but the quiet nature of it was welcome. Aside from the initial e-mail ticket problems, every part of it was run as smoothly as possible considering the circumstances. It would have been nice to have the Q & A afterward, but in reality most of us have heard Kevin's Q & A so many times that not having one did not detract from the evening at all.
: As for the movie itself... it was great. After only one viewing I am having trouble placing in a rank with the others, but my initial reaction is that it's either as good or better than Chasing Amy, which I consider to be my favorite.
: There was a little choppiness at times, but that's probably a result of having to edit so much out of the original story. I really hope the DVD includes the directors cut so I can compare the longer version with this one.
: The score was fantastic. I remember reading a review saying that Howard Shore's score wasn't very good, but to me it felt epic and emotional.
: I think the performances of Affleck, Rickman, Mewes and Kevin stood out the most to me. Kevin may be a surprise addition to that list, but look closely at his facial expressions throughout the movie. Silent Bob seemed so much more "real" in this one than the others. And Mewes seemed a lot more natural in Dogma than in any of the previous flicks.
: On the flight home today I began reading the third draft of the flick that I printed out and read 2 years ago (and haven't read since). The subsequent changes in dialogue in the later drafts shows just how good Kevin is at "hearing" it. There is a world of difference between the two.
: Anyway, both the event and flick itself would get an A from me. Kudos to all for making it so enjoyable.
