On the way in, I noticed the line at the will call table, which I assume was for the board folk. Did anyone get in?

The view from inside...
When I arrived, Ben was giving an interview on the carpet. After I walked up the steps, I saw Giovanni Ribisi by the door. Entering the auditorium, I spotted Jennifer Tilly (who shows up at practically every premiere) in her seat. I arrived just in time, for moments after I took my seat, the little pre-show intro began. After some words from a Lions Gate rep, Kev gave some very amusing opening remarks with Scott Mosier standing silently by his side. Kev thanked cast and crew but of course reserved greatest thanks for Jen.

This was my second viewing of the film, and I enjoyed it more this time around. Caught some things I didn't the first time and more greatly appreciated Linda Fiorentino's anchoring performance. The general reaction of the film seemed to be very positive--everyone laughed at all the right places--though the guy sitting next to me seemed to be getting antsy.

The party at Dominick's was quite a hectic affair. Lions Gate obviously didn't intend for the affair to get quite as big as it did, or they would have booked a bigger venue; it was like sardines just about everywhere, especially in the VIP room. The waiters and waitresses serving hors d'oeuvres and drinks could barely negotiate their way through. Some familiar faces could be spotted here and there while walking through the place: Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Luke Wilson, Jake Busey, Gwyneth Paltrow. Then, of course, were the stars from the film: Ben, Salma, Jason L. (looking nearly unrecognizable with long hair and a beard--the Silent Bob look?), Alanis, and Kevin. Interesting to see the mingling that went on; Ben and Gwynnie were cozy, and Edward sat with Salma for a while.

All in all, an enjoyable evening, and Kev was, as usual, a gracious host.
