Well...missed getting inside the premiere by one person. Apparently, the Askew Board allocation was cut down from 25 to 10 at the last minute because VIPS added added people to their lists (Alanis wanted to bring her brother, etc.) and theater seating was really tight.
No matter...it was still well worth the drive to support Kevin and meet some of the GREAT "Board People" in line hoping to get in. The one person who I thought SHOULD have got in was a guy who was waiting on the corner across the street who wasn't on any list - let alone the "confirmed" Askerwers - who was dressed EXACTLY like Silent Bob. I mean, he was SCARY he was so good - doing exact mannerisms, bits, etc. This guy could be a professional celebrity lookalike if Dogma goes the roof. I waited on the line until half hour past the posted start time just in case I made it, because I would have DEFINITELY given him my place in the screening. He deserved it. And, it reminded me how much f*cking fun it would have been if the premiere had been the original "Dress Up As Silent Bob and Jay" Theme. It would have been great.
Anyway...it was great to see all the stars arrive and it would have been even better to be inside with Ben, Jason, Salma, Gwyneth, etc. - but my favorite moment was happening to be at the end of the red carpet when Kev and and his wife arrived in their limo. They got out, he took her hand and they started walking down the red carpet to join Ben, Alanis, etc. - but the FIRST person he acknowledged was his "Silent Bob" twin and the other Askewers across the street with a friendly wave.
THAT my friends is why I'm a Kevin Smith fan. He values his family and his fans and makes them feel "special" - even at the glitziest of Hollywood events. Harley is one lucky little girl.
