Aaaaaaah, finally! Got in to see Dogma last night for the LA Premiere. I was #8 of the 10 that Lions Gate let in. Too bad about the others, I think there were less than 10 left in the View Askew line after we got in. Oh well, they get to see it tomorrow.

I've been studiously avoiding spoilers & haven't read the script. The majority of the plot development was new to me. I've been reading about how the film seemed choppy to people who read the script, but I gotta disagree. The film seemed just about right. Although, I'll certainly enjoy seeing the original director's cut, about 2:40 or so, on DVD at some point.

Although it would probably go without saying, of course I greatly enjoyed the film. J&SB were funny, Fiorentino was believable in a difficult role, Rock was great...Oh yeah, and those two Boston boys were OK too (g).

Around my workplace, Dogma's gotten us talking about religion in a friendly way, more to the good. I've learned interesting things about Eastern Orthodox religion from a coworker that I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Is the film Kevin's best? Well, no. Nothing could beat Chasing Amy, a film that more wrote Kevin than Kevin wrote. Chasing Amy had a believability and an immediate relevance to my life that is difficult to equal. But it's certainly a strong film, well worth seeing - and I'll see it again this weekend.

John
