In a recent interview:
"I'm not saying the church is bad,"
Smith says, "just that God is better."
I found this really similar to the base message at the end of the film stigmata.
Anybody who challenges the church by encouraging people to look to god more than they look to the church is going to get heavy flack from the catholic corporation.
Three cheers for your courage to affirm your faith and challenge much of the ways that religion destroys peoples' ability to attain and affirm their own faith DIRECTLY in God and with God.
