: I'm an art student/cartoonist and I now need to do my own version of lil Jay and Silent Bob, I need to. I fully respect Kevin's copyrights and I would never seek commercial gain from such an image, but I have to draw them. Have they been done before? If so where?
First of all, just curious, why do you NEED to? Or do you WANT to? Where have you been man comics my man, comics? You call yourself a cartoonist? Check out the Clerks and other Viewaskew comics and become enlightened!
Anyway comic greats such as Matt Wagner (oni Double Feature #1, designs for action figures, Stash design), Jim Mahfood( Both Clerks one-shots), Joe Quesada(cover to J & SB #1 and artwork for Mallrats), Mike Allred(Bluntman & Chronic in Oni Double Feature #12, artwork for Chasing Amy and Mallrats, J & SB #2 cover), and Duncan Fregredo (J & SB mini-series, cover to Clerks: lost Scene) have all done their renditions. And other cover art, Art Adams(Clerks Holiday special), The Hernandez Bros.( Clerks one-shot though it's of Dante & Randall and J & SB #3 flip cover), and even Scott Mosier has even done his rendition on a few T-Shirt designs. And I'm not sure, but perhaps Walt Flanagan might have whipped up some of the older T-Shirt designs that they have at the stash.
Not to mention dozens of little cameos in various DC comics. Oh yeah, also the poster artist of Mallrats, can't reclal his name but he did the Indiana Jones posters too. The Mallrats blueprint posters-stick-figure-renditions and other artwork from the trading cards. I'm sure I'm even missing some. Lots out there my man.
