: I agree about Jeff Anderson in Dogma. You'd think they'd give him even one funny line. (Bartelby and Loki take the guns and leave. Randal: "Buncha savages in this town.")

i couldn't agree more! and what a great idea for a line-- brilliant, in fact! or how about having him as they leave, hit play on the store vcr muttering "yeah... chicks with dicks...") oh well-- kev knows best, i guess!

: And I agree that Jeff had great subtle charm in Clerks. The moment when he tells Caitlin that he'll kill her if she hurts Dante again...it kills me. It's so honest and just fucking great! It's the town smart-ass trying to be human and caring for once in his life, but at the same time, not wanting to have people take him seriously. I love it.

: Jeff and Brian have to come back, but maybe as one part of a much larger supporting cast (Lee, Affleck, Rock, Supplee, Dohert...sorry, strike that one.)

******how about Dante and Randal back in the Quick Stop and video store, but a new snazzy chain (think starbucks/7-eleven/blockbuster) store opens up across the street with rival clerks Lee and Affleck... the possibilities are mind-boggling!

but i agree that a bigger supporting cast in general is the way to go. one of the things i loved about dogma was that it was a big cast with very famous actors in it, but (likely due to kev's devilishly clever writing) retained the garage-movie feel of clerks and chasing amy. i think it'd be a mistake to try to fully recapture the clerks mystique (w/ grainy black & white, tiny cast, 2 sets, etc.) cause that's just not the view askew world now, but the key would be to keep the essential feel of clerks by sticking with the irreverance and general wise-assness we loved. but i could just be talking out of my poopie trim-- who knows.
