I went to see Dogma yesterday in youngstown ohio. Outside there were about 15 protesters. Out of those 15 protest people, I managed to talk 6 into coming inside to see the movie with me after I agreed to foot the bill for them. When I first approached them, they asked if I was going to see that pornographic movie, "DOGMA". I said that I was going to see it, but that I knew fora fact that it was not anything like they were being told. I then asked them all if any of them had seen it and they all responded that they would not spend their money on trash like that. I asked them if they would go if someone else paid for that trash for them and 6 actually took me up on it. Of course they already went into the movie with their beliefs of what the movie was going to be. I sat with these people and listened to them laugh their little Catholic butts off. The oart they really laughed at was the Jay comment when Rufus was explaining that Bethany was a decendant of Christ and he asked if that made her part black. After the movie was over we exited the movie and I thought these catholics would go to their group and tell them that they were wrong. Guess what? I was wrong. They walked right up to their group and said what a terrible piece of filth this movie was. I was so shocked that they did that. But as I got in my car to go home a line in the movie began singing in my head. It was when Chris rock said that ideas can be chaged, but beliefs can not. I guess the point of my post is that the argument of whether these people see the movie or not before passing judgement on it is rather moot. I must say on a lighter note that I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I actually cried at the end. THANK YOU KEVIN!!!!!!
