Well, it sounds like you had a great time. It is a shame your local theatres were scared by preachers and bible-thumpers who knew nothing about the movie. I think you should be very proud of your mother for going to the movie and having an open mind. I am glad she enjoyed it. I am glad you liked the movie, I did as well.
: Dogma was great here in North Carolina. It was not playing nearby,so some friends and myself traveled to Greenville,NC to see it opening night.Packed house there and everyone there loved itThey was a mixed bunch of groups, old, young, black, white, men and women.Everyone in the theater was having a great time.you could hear people recognize people in the movie(Hey,it's Dante!,Randall!,ect.)The biggest responses were to Jay and Silent Bob and Brodie..er I mean Azreal. Can't wait for the Dogma:Special Edition DVD.Speaking of which,I hope there is a Chasing Amy:Special Edition Autographed DVD coming soon.Only complaint was that it was not carried in my home town of Wilson,N.C..I heard that neither of the 2 theaters in Wilson would carry it because a:It was too contraversial and b:a movie like that will not bring in customers. The closest places to go were Cary,N.C. and Greenville.I took great joy in calling both theaters in Wilson the Monday after Dogam opened and told them the Box Office receipts and how the lost money for not carring it.when asked if the would pick it up now, they said they were contracted to carry the films they have and pressure from preachers and pastors around here made the decision for them.Gota love it when other people decide what I can and cannot see.If it seems I am on a rant here,I am.but I will say that once i saw the movie,it made me forget the bunch of savages in this town.dogma was truly an uplifting experience.I am a babtist, not Catholic, but the message was the same.Think for yourself.Make your own decisions.Just because you don't go to church every single sunday does not make you a bad person.Believe in what YOU believe in,not what others say you better believe in or your burn in hell for not.I even got my mom to go and she was not to sure about going. She liked Mallrats, but did not think that the mesage would be good with that type of language.when she left the theater, she said she felt like she was floating. The movie touched her(CBS will probably sue me for that)and that it was one of the best movies she had seen.It sent a message without resorting to that Afternoon Special preaching or hit them over the head until they get it kind of dialouge.Man,am I rambling on her.Anyway,if you are reading this Kevin or any of his associates, kudos to a great movie, and a great message.Thanks.
: I would appreciate any responses to this message to see if anyone else had a similiar experience.
