As a minister in a non-denominational church, I felt that "Dogma" asked some great questions. Did we recieve answers? I don't think so. The Bible tells us that we each must "work out our salvation." Kevin Smith did a great job of presenting so-called "irreverent" questions about faith. I have had those same questions. I loved the line, "You don't celebrate your faith, you mourn it." He was targeting the Catholic church, but I've seen it in all denominations. Christ died to take our sins away, but we continue to crucify him and ourselves as if they are still on us. I'll admit, we should have a sober view of the lostness of the world and it's people, but to mope around in the name of Christ...well, nobody's gonna want to get saved. Who wants that? Not me. Kevin, good job. Contrary to popular belief, I think God can handle it when we ask the hard questions. Our "heroes" in the Bible did it all the time. Bravo for stepping out in faith and risking to make this movie. It's not perfect, but I liked it.
Kevin, I'd like to ask a favor. When this comes out on video, I would like to seek permission to show scenes from it in church. Our church can handle it. We would have to clean up the language some...well, just let me know what you think. As an artist, I am not into censorship. I figure...it's worth a try to ask. Later.

Your comic-lovin' minister buddy,

Marty

PS I like your other movies too. Don't tell anyone. Shhhhh!
