: it has nothing to do with the audio analogy and without sounding insulting, i think the LP vs. CD argument is rather bullshit. digital is a FLAWLESS rendition of a recording. if an LP sounds better to you, it is because of FLAWS in the LP and your ear interpretting that as "warmth". in that regard, digital recording is superior, but that's not necessarily a good thing to you LP die-hards, I guess.

Flawless?

Maybe... I still think a pure digital recording sounds very sterile, almost a little too bright. There's something about tubes and tape that add ambience to a record. I'm not an LP snob by any means, but I used to work in a high end audio shop, and until it was proven to me that LP's sounded better, I wouldn't belive it. Granted, it was a $5k turntable and a $2k stylus, but it sounded worlds better then any CD's I've ever heard.

Just for the record, I only listen to CD's... I think I own maybe 4 LP's.

I think if you had a listen to the setup I was in front of, your mind would change. Although it's probably a moot point because barely anyone can afford that kind of rig just to play LP's.

Thanks for the analysis of film vs digital, I'm fairly new to this.

Rich
