: : Vincent,

: : I've seen your talking about Digital vs. Film and I wondered what your thoughts were on the future development of the medium.

: : I know you said that DV could never capture the same way film does, but in what respect? I'm not disagreeing with you that that film looks better, but I'm wondering "why" it looks different, and if future developments could close the gap.

: : Being a musician turned "aspiring filmmaker" I'm thinking about the analogy of tape vs. digital. I know the current CD format is limited because of the original specs dynamic range, but developments over the years allow digital recording of the full spectrum beyond what's humanly audible. Unfortunately the current CD spec can't support it. I guess where I'm going with this is that analog music recordings, played back on analog devices (i.e. LP) sound better and "warmer" then digital recordings played back digitally. Recording in analog, then going digital (which is required to go to CD, duh) is better then direct digital though, some of the "warmth" is preserved.

: : Where am I going with this... ok.. Since film is "visual" do you think DV technology will eventually catch up to be as good as film, or will is always remain as "sterile" looking?

: : Thanks,

: : Rich

: Well,hody-do richie....this post has nothing to with your digital film debate BUT,i'm a aspiring musicain turned aspiring film dude/aspiring musician.i didn't think that there were very many of us out there,so uhhhhh hey. i'm a HUGE kevin smith fan and A HUGE stanley Kubrick fan.....and for some *morbid*sadistic* reason Jason Lee is my favorite actor, something about him reminds me of myself and i'm an egotistical bastard so its kinda like *i'm* famous and in the movies...........i need help.....lots of help
