Considering last weekend's gross was $4.0 million, this weekend's take of $3.5 million wasn't half bad.
And this isn't wishful thinkin', when you think about it, a small film playing on less than 1,400 screens ("wide releases" seem to be between 2,000-3,000 screens these days) is still managing to hold up. Remember, it came 3rd in its first weekend, 5th in its second and now 7th in its 3rd...weekend that is. And why? Thanks to the heavyweights of Pokemon, Bond, Burton, Arnie and Woody and Buzz . . . . hell! I'm surprised punters could actually stand walking into a movie theatre anymore . . . with all this market saturation......sigh!
Anyway, it's still the best grossing film from its opening weekend (with the exception of "overweight teddy bear", Pokemon - it has easily outgrossed Light It Up, The Messenger and Anywhere But Here) and has now overtaken The Bachelor and - soon - will overtake The Insider's overall gross.
Pretty fly for a religious guy......
