: : Another question: wasn't the idea of a war in heaven between Lucifer and other angels mostly from the book "Paradise Lost," not the Bible?
: After seeing Dogma, I actually got out my Bible and started looking stuff up, wondering what was in the Bible, what was Catholic theology, and what was Christian 'myth.'
: A battle between Michael and the dragon (Satan, Lucifer, Morning Star, etc.) is reference in Revelations 12.
The reference to the war between the Angels and the casting out of lucifer is in the book of Isiah (Old Testament). But it is referenced in other places from then on as well.
Lucifer commaded an army of 200 angels (among them Azrael...a little biblical nitpicking) and lost.
But, as he said in Milton..."Better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven"
Incedentally, IMHO, Bartleby & Loki *definitely* went to hell (or purgatory). They were mortal and had not yet been cleansed of sin. Therefore they had to go to hell (even without the internal logic of the film resting on the fact that their rentry into heaven would constitute an unresolvable paradox)
NON SERVIUM!
