These are the answers, as Kevin* told me after a night of binge drinking and harrasment of Pizza Delivery Boys.
-Clerks was not "shot" in the traditional sense. Clerks is actually a series of crudely drawn pictures inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso durring his historic "convienience store period."
-The film was an old VHS cassette which was previously used to record old episodes of "Good Times." It was stolen from Kevin's Uncle, who sources close to him say later refered to Kevin as "Shitheel."
-Clerks was actually a collaborated project, made in association with Virgil, a magical man whom only Kevin can see.
-The "artificial lighting" is merely the glare off of a fat bald man's head.
-Kevin's computer is fully "Y2K compliant", as Kevin would rather not live at all then live without his Solitare.
*"Kevin" in all above passages refers to Kevin Dunstmere, who is no relation to Kevin Smith and from time to time claims to be the father of Madonna's baby.
