: There really is no question. Bartleby went to Hell.
: Jay shredded the dudes wings off, so he became human, but he never passed through the church doors, which means he died a mass murderer if nothing else. Would God forgive him just becausehe cried on her shoulder and said he was sorry? Doubtful.
: Why, though, did he whisper "Thank you" before she exploded his upper half?

I thought that Bartleby went to heaven actually. As soon as his wings came off he was Mortal/Human and there for now under Gods law with man. Meaning the moment he was in God's presence(?) and said he was sorry, by the same law that would see them redeemed before, God forgave him. He ment he was truly sorry, so he was truly forgiven and therefore admitted into heaven the instant he died. Wether God blew him in half or not. It was hearing the voice of God as a mortal man, that distroyed him, not that God was punidhing him. The Thank you was for being forgiven and for being allowed to be in his/her presence again. You could see by the smile that it was the love returned to him, the peace it instilled in him. But that is just my opinion. Beka
