The style is based on 2 UK artists, called "Gilbert and George", who may well have been part of that terribly offensive exhibition that went down so well in New York a while back. Glibert and George are strange and quite disgusting at times. Martin Clunes (Staggered, Men Behaving Badly) is their most famous connection I guess, having posed for one of their pictures before he got famous.
However, if it turns out you're a fan of their "take a photocopy, go round the edges with a thick black pen and make it look like a stained-glass window" style of art, you'll be pleased to know that their book, "Naked Shit Pictures" is available at all good bookstores now, and contains lots of pictures of anuses and poo. Lovely.
Just wondering, while I'm here, what's the buzz about Dogma like in Ireland? Are their Catholics foaming at the mouth yet?
