I went to Woodstock 99.
I burned nothing. I hurt no one. I... ahem... violated no one. I even turned down an offer of a free, likely stolen, t-shirt.
I did see, and dig, Counting Crows. (Any Crows fans in the hiz-ouse? They're a guilty pleasure, I know...)
But that's all a dull backstory, 'ala the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The point is, after Woodstock, my freinds and I hitched from Rome NY to Albany, and subsequently caught a greyhound to NYC.
Missed Mr. Smith's signing at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square by a few days :( I bought the 'Rats DVD anyway. Really couldn't wait to return to Texas, and my trusty DVD player. (Vincent... wow.)
ANYWAY... as night fell over Manhatten, and the unsavory, misanthropic element began to emerge, we started to look for shelter. Every hotel room in NYC was either full or out of our price range.
So we took a bus to Jersey. Hadn't seen or read Dogma yet. OurI would have felt really cool.
SO... the bus takes across the river... and it hits me. Jersey? THE STASH! I get to go to the stash! I began to sing "I get to go to the stash!" to the tune of "na-na-na-na boo-boo." My friends hit me.
I figured Red Bank would be across the river. Hence the "Bank." SO we get off the bus and find a seedy shotgun motel. The next morning everyone is tired and dirty and we get on a bus bound for the airport. They drag mekicking and screaming.
SO.......... was I ever IN Red Bank? Was I only steps away from Jay& Bob& their goodies?
How far is Red Bank from the Big Freakin Apple?
YAWN...
"Somebody needs a nap..."
See you in the funny papers...

PS... I actually admired Episode 1. And I don't feel that guilty for being a Counting Crows fan. And... and... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
