: Not that I question Kevin's brilliance but it has troubled me for some time the purpose (if there was one) in the scene outside the quickstop with Jay, Bob, Olaf and some woman. In the middle of the conversation the camers suddenlly turns to the shoes. I found it interesting- I mean you can tell a lot about a person from their shoes you know? Someone else brought up the fact that Olaf was wearing black boots with white laces which is a hate symbol or domething like that. I was just perplexed that's all. I do have to say though, I actually did like the originaity of it. If any one out there has some answers I'd love to know

The idea put forward was that, as the white laces are tying up the black boot, it was a symbol of white power. I think it's balderdash. I'm white and I'm currently wearing blue shoes with white laces. By that line of reasoning, I'd hate blue people, which I don't. And what about white shoes with white laces? Is that self-hate or what? I mean, what if Olaf had broken his lace putting his boot on (don't you just hate it when that happens?) and he was in a hurry to meet Jay and Silent Bob so he couldn't go to the store and he couldn't wear trainers because he wanted to do his metal thing, and he hit upon the brilliant idea of using his triner lace in his boot? You see, it's not racism. It's just lateral thinking.

Nurse? Nurse! Time for my medicaiton! NURSE!
