Dear Kevin, Vince, Kim, or anybody who happens to be wandering the Halls Askew, (except for Walt Flanagan... what's with THAT guy?)
My name is Dylan Newhouse, 19 year old Waco Texas community college student, aspiring film-maker/rock star, and friend of Captain Solo. Since Waco isn't even a blip on the indie-film radar, I'm currently looking at film schools I might transfer to in a semester or so. The leading candidate right now is the University of Texas at Austin. I'm aquainted with a film major there, who paints Austion as a burgeoning film community, a "third coast."
So I was just wondering if you guys, role-models and inspirations that you are, could give me your proverbial "two cents." (And your literal two cents. God, I need a job.)
Waddaya know about UT? Austin? Should I just throw caution to the wind and head for a coast? Which road leads to the movies in my mind?
FLAMER DISCLAIMER... THE FOLLOWING IS NOT A REQUEST FOR A JOB...
Oh, yeah, and do you guys ever use interns? Will you, in 2 or 3 years?
And if so, what is the process involved in becoming one? Must one wear a "power tie?"
Ah, But I digress. Me + Corona + lime = delusions of grandeur.
Seriously, I'm sure you've answered similar posts before, but what is your advice to a truly talented, hard worknig college student who wants to work in film?
See You in the Funny Papers,
Dylan Newhouse

PS... Apologies to Mr. Flanagan for that crack in the greeting. I'm big fan. There's a magnet of you and your dog on my f'n FRIDGE.
