I agree totally. I've seen Dogma three times so far, first time with a bunch of people (totally distracted by noticing people and missing scenes), the second time by myself (still distracted by stuff in the background that I didn't notice the first time around, but read about on the board) and the third time with a fellow Viewaskewer (a little distracted, but found myself mouthing the words in the train scene)
Overall, I figured out that no matter how many times I see this movie, I will never be able to see it as "a movie". I knew too much about it, felt like I knew people that were in it, and the fact that I anticipated it's release for over a year...well, just kinda spoiled it for me in a way.
Never again.
Well, until Clerks 2 anyway.

: I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'm starting to wonder if I mightn't have enjoyed DOGMA more had I not read the script online, checked out all the info on the website, etc.
: I'm not blaming anyone else for this -- no one held a gun to my head and made me look at all this stuff -- it's just that I'm starting to think that I might have been able to enjoy the film on its own terms had I not known so much of the plot, dialogue, etc.
: Just a thought, that maybe all this pre-release access to info via the web may not always be so great, and that for some of us, going into movies with a blank slate might still be the best way.
: That said -- this remains one of the *great* film-related sites for folks looking for info (before *or* after seeing the movie), and I love the re-design!
