Sorry to take up valuable board space with a personal message. But I just wanted to let everyone know that the reason I haven't been on the board since before thanksgiving is because last tuesday (that'd be a week ago today) my house caught fire. A spark from a faulty wire ignited my bed's box spring. Luckily my family was able to evacuate, and the firefighters response time was quick. The house itself was saved, but much of my personal posessions were not.
My DVD Player, my Mallrats DVD, my Jersey Trilogy video collection, my Clerks/Chasing Amy two screenplays book. Jay and Silent Bob 1-4, my Clerks and Mallrats CD's, my pilfered internet printout Dogma script. And a framed post Kevin once made to me.
I was in doubt about shooting my first attempt at a full length feature. And Kevin said: "Bury your fears and shoot the flick." I framed that and it hung over my computer at home. Which is now a pile of plastic in some landfill, much like my camera and the footage for my latest short film.
I've lost a lot of stuff... nothing irreplaceable. Except for the framed post from Mr. Smith. I've been scouring all the old boards looking for this specific post, if anyone can help me find it I would be eternally gratefull.
And I'd also like to thank Kevin for making Dogma... To take my mind of all that has happened I went to see it for the third time, and it really helped. It made me feel like my normal life had not been put on hold indefinately. Thank you Kevin for allowing me to forget my troubles, if even for a couple of hours.
sincerely,
Matthew J. Blanchard.
