My guess is that Affleck's pulling a move that a lot of actors seem to be pulling nowadays where they turn down the big Hollywood offers for smaller "more meaningful" projects. Don't get me wrong I applaud them for this in most circumstances, but I agree, turning down a chance to work with a legend like De Niro is a strange move. I'm not trying to say Ben's being fickle by going with a trend, these two films probably mean something to him are really juicy roles.
