Is anyone really going to miss Peanuts?

Now, I'm not trying to be mean here. Schulz has had a long career and I hope I'm doing as well at his age, but...

...Can anyone remember actually laughing at a Peanuts strip in the past decade? I sure as hell can't. Peanuts has become an institution. People look for it the the paper to see that its there, like the weather or the sports, and it gives them a sense of security to see that it's still there.

But as a comic strip... it's incredibly dull and painfully repetitive.

Hell, he could have retired the strip five years ago and I'm not sure anyone would have noticed. People open the paper and see 'Oh, look! The hydrocephalic kid is still there" and they move on to something else. i really don't think anyone enjoys the strip beyond that level.

I love the Great Pumpkin and all, but frankly, I can't say I'm sorry to see Peanuts go.
