: My question is why did you decide to direct you films? Was it something that you wanted to do? Did you feel no other director would see your vision? Or was it just that if the film was going to get shot, you were gonna have to do it?

I've a gaggle of scripts, and I don't want to direct most of them. I just enjoy writing, but I realize there's a bunch of directors who could do a much better job bringing it to the screen. And then there are those that I get really attached to as I'm writing. The kind of script that is so close to me I wouldn't want to see the finished movie if it wasn't made exactly like I pictured. Those are the movies I want to direct.

That said, the chief reason I held out on selling EVERYBODY'S DEAD until a studio agreed that I could direct it is because I know how easily this movie could be complete and utter crap. I mean, come on, it's about a bunch of frat guys fighting fucking zombies, for God's sake. It could bite oh so very big. And I want to make sure it's done correctly. And, seeing as it's only my second movie (and my first with an actual movie budget) I can see how badly I'm going to drop the ball. This crapfest has STRAIGHT TO VIDEO stamped all over it. But at least I'M dropping the ball, and not some other dude! Yeah!
