: That's why people praise Kevin, along with Greg Rucka, Bob Gale, J. Michael Stracynski and others in hopes of brining different audiences to comics as a form of entertainment.

Everyone's hung up on the Hollywood-Comics connection lately, but comics are producing lots of great stuff on their own. Just about everything Vertigo puts out is worth a look (Scene of the Crime, Books of Magic). Whiteout. And the best superhero stuff being put out today is by Wildstorm (ABC's, Authority, Majestic, Planetary), & Marvel Knights. Terry Moore's still kicking ass on SiP, and Alex Robinson's Box Office Poison isn't bad. (Still no Strangers in Paradise, though.)

Creatively, comics are the best they've ever been. Ever. They're hip. Dogma, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, South Park, Angel. (Sandman/Preacher, Impulse, any indy comedy, Dark Knight Returns)

All these, the most critically acclaimed things coming out of the 'mainstream' have their roots in comics.

: The whole point is to spread the word that comics are cool. Let someone borrow a Preacher trade paperback, or Watchmen, hell, a Daredevil: Visionaries or Chasing Dogma trade paperback. Buy them as gifts and give them out as presents this holiday. I'm not saying this to just sell more comics, what I'm hoping is that more of the average joes out there will realize how cool the comics are, and buy comics because they love the stories and artwork as they should be enjoyed as. Tell your libraries to carry more trade paperbacks.

And bookstores. Lest we forget. This is where we NEED them.

: I know I may be preaching to the choir here, but I know there a many readers who are closet readers and don't tell people how cool comics are these days. Anyway, enough of my soapbox. I got really carried away but I hope you guys are noticing that comics are experiencing rough times, no matter the cause (and I've heard them all from prices, to saturation, to dark and violent content, whatever!)

Fucking right. Pussy fanboys have NO excuse! Read your Mutant X on the subway! Read Sandman in the library! Read Strangers in Paradise at your AA meetings!

: Have a great holiday Kevin and VA crew and to all of the posters here. it's been one fun year of boarding!

I'll say. Haven't posted much, but it's been a ball.

: Sorry for rambling.

No problem, one time, I rambled so much that I...
