Hey guys,
Found this in Jeffrey Wells' Hollywood Insider column for Reel.com. He's doing a year-in-review, showing the news stories of the year by month, how he thought they would turn out at the time, and how they actually did turn out in reality. Wells is one of those catty, Joan Rivers-esque, Hollywood hangers-on, a parasite who has no real talent, yet he loves to cling to celebrity. I should point out that Wells was the main reason Ben Affleck got into a pretty well publicized feud with MrShowbiz.com over the Dogma "controversy." Here's what appeared in Wells' column.
Enjoy!

: Item: Miramax's distribution of Dogma
comes under question again in
Premiere article. It essentially follows
my August '98 story that broke the
controversy, when I quoted Ben Affleck
saying "it would not surprise me if the
political situation around Dogma was
very tenuous," etc. Reaction: Nothing
from Affleck, who threw a fit when my
initial report came out. A week after the
Premiere piece broke, Bob and Harvey
Weinstein bought the Dogma rights for
Disney, and later sold them to Lion's
Gate. Aftermath: Dogma has
performed better than decently for a
Kevin Smith film. And after all the
hullabaloo, there was almost no
squealing from religious groups about offensive satiric content.
