: I have seen Dogma a few times now and I have also read all of Kevin's
Daredevil's among a lot of other Daredevils. Daredevil is known as the Man
without Fear. Now in Dogma, Loki says, when he is in the Mooby Board
Meeting "do you know what makes a human being decent? Fear." To me, this
is suggesting that Daredevil is not a decent man.
When Daredevil is referred to as being "without fear", this seems to refer
to any fear of physical danger, hence all the jumping off buildings, etc.
If you have read the comics as you have said, then you should realize that
Matt Murdock has plenty of fear in other senses. Otherwise, why did the
possible supernatural nature of the baby in "Guardian Devil" freak him out
badly enough to start him on the path to insanity. A guy like him doesn't
decide to chuck a baby off the roof unless there's a fair amount of fear in
there somewhere. He wanted badly to do the right thing for himself, his
loved ones, and humanity, and feared making the wrong decision.
That's at least part of the kind of fear that Loki refers to. The fear of
hurting others, the fear of doing wrong because of possible repurcussions
(in the temporal plane as well as the spiritual one), this is what makes
people decent. When you stop caring who you hurt, as the Mooby execs had
done, you lose your sense of decency. They had attained enough power in
the world to make them feel spiritually bulletproof, never thinking or
caring that God (or any divine agents) might take an interest. Remember,
kids, it's nice to be important, but more important to be nice...
: I guess I am looking into this way too much and I have way too much spare
time.
That's a distinct possibility, but hopefully I've given a satisfactory
answer anyway. Now go play outside for awhil
