hello, i havent posted here in a great while (to the releif of some i'd think), ....i want to give some impressions on the film, but i dont feel comfortable quite yet. Ive seen the film three times as of yet, but i want to see it a few more so i can give a well informed opinion. I will say this though, I think that its the best VA outing yet (honestly), and i'm also Curious about grosses so far. One thing that i kind of had issues with was the way Mr Smith wrote his own part this time, i simply loved the way the way in CChasing Amy that he had that one great piece of dialogue that (for me) seemed to be the underpinning of the entire film (insofar as showing Holden the proverbial light about the sexual experience issue). Thats really the only facet of the film that i personally took issue with. Even with the comedy, i believe this film was a great drama, there were parts that honestly moved me. The parts where bethany examined (and eventually came to grips with) her spirituality were outstanding, also the sections where serundipity (sp?) was speaking on "i doesnt matter what religion you are, just as long as you have faith" was great. I'll be honest, the only film ive liked Affleck in was Chasing Amy, but i loved him in this. This film truly moved me, there were even parts that made me cry (yea, like a little girl with a skinned knee and shit). I dont think this paltry review truly does this piece of work justice.....but thats just me.
One more thing, if i remember correctly was jason lee originally slated for the part of Loki (he had sched probs or the like). I'd really like to have seen him do a reading with affleck (they have a good chemistry). Not to say that damon didnt do great, he had kind a humane quality that i liked. Probably the most underatted scene was with Alan Rickman standing on the water explaining bethany's lineage. Well, that wraps this up for the moment, i hope you have a good day. Happy Holidays
...i'm a fucking Demon!
