: dear folks o'the board,
:
: sorry to disrupt everyone's new year and wreck my hangover, but I have been meaning to get on here for like, a week b/c I had a question. okay. this isn't particular to anyone, but I was watching mallrats and realized that grammercy was the company on that, while there was mention of miramax for chasing amy (am I right here??) I haven't seen it in a while, so to get to the bloody point is, do filmmakers have to stick to the same movie company, or does it go to the highest bidder? I was thinking it was more like music companies where you have contracts and that sort.
Sometimes, as in the case of Clerks, the film was independantly-made, and then Kevin sold it to MiraMax. In Mallrats' case, Gramercy had Kevin make the movie for them. And right now, View Askew productions has a deal with Miramax that would let Miraax have first crack at whatever movies they put out. Independant filmmakers, (kevin, quentin tarantino, etc., make moview without necessarily having a company to make them, but other directors have contracts. So it depends.
: not like I love staring at the screen even longer, but with the upcoming release of magnolia (damn the la/ny opening...can't chicago get love too?)
: has anyone (vincent or kevin) ever endeavoured a dramatic script?
Vincent made "A Better Place", and it's an all-out drama.
I think amy had it's moments, but I was thinking more grandiose, as if on that "american beauty" scale. I am a big fan of melodrama and comedy, and I think it is such a challenge to be able to portray that on film-- I would be intrigued to see it with a "view askew".
: later...I gotta go crash...or drink more?
to drink or not to drink. This guy last night mentioned he was going to stay drunk over the weeke4nd so he would not have a hangover. *g*
: love in the 2k
: jude.
: p.sx-1 jay--back dat ass up!!! I am sure all you need is some chocolate love, and you'll be straight...really! ~I think can say as a girl, that you are comedy...that IS sexy... ooh yah...um hmm... ;o)
Jay thinks about guys... :)
peace
