Are Kevin Smith films, in fact, films in general, artistic. Are they a free expression oof the artist (directors) inner thoughts or are they produced with a view to satisfying a large audience? If they are artistic they should be able to last the challenge of time, but many films are transient and short-lived. Afterall, life is transient, art is ever-lasting. Should films therefore be considered merely part of life, or are they more significant. Are there any criteria to assess this by? What would make these films pieces of art?
