I was just over in an Ain't it cool news message post, when someone decided to drag up this entire, tired PT Anderson/Kevin Smith episode. A ritualistic trashing of Mr. Smith then commenced, with everything short of the burning of his effigy. I do believe one person was so articulate as to offer up "Smith can't lick the sweat on Anderson't balls" as an opinion. Which is fine, it's their opinion. But likewise, when are people going to learn that writers, directors, actors, whomever, are people, just like you and me. People who, year after year, put a little bit of themselves in the public eye to be viewed in the hopes of sharing something entertaining, meaningful, whatever, with us, the viewing public. Don't like PT Anderson: Don't go to the fuckin movie. Don't like Kevin Smith: Don't go to the fuckin movie. But obviously, from the ammount of fervor which has been stirred up over this thing, there are enough amount people who follow each writer/director to go around. Without trashing either. Hey, I've got a friend who thinks Casablanca is a piece of shit. It's just an opinion.
