There's nothing really crappy about watching a DVD on a computer screen. Except for the lack of reclining on a comfortable couch, that is. DVD may look worse on a computer screen because the screen is so much higher in quality and resolution. You tend to see the compression noise, which is otherwise invisible on a standard TV screen. TV has barely 500 lines of vertical resolution and around 256 colours. Computer monitors are generally 800x600 or greater, and can display millions of colours. I'm very curious as to what DVD looks like on HDTV - i think people will be a little disappointed. It'll be better than VHS, though.
