oard,
What a weekend to be away from this infernal machine! I miss the explanation for the cameo in SCREAM 3 (The best part of that God forsaken flick) and the long post that suggests a MALLRATS 2 at the end. God Bless the NewsAskew boys is all I gotta say.
Well, MALLRATS 2...'RATS was the last Trilogy flick I saw (1999, on my Birthday-Jan. 5). RATS was the one that made me laugh. CLERKS made me think, AMY made me cry (and to everyone who laughs...fuck you and your mother-save for Mr. Smith), but RATS made me laugh.
About a month ago, a friend, as a late Christmas present, got me a copy of FERRIS. We sat and watched it, and about midway, both agreed a sequel would've been great...because, well, with FERRIS, it's not cinema noeveau (sp?)...It's pure fun. However, you couldn't do a Ferris today (unless you were clever) but if you had in the late 80s, it would've been comedic gold (and Chiusano, I care little what you have to say).
Kevin, MAKE MALLRATS 2: HARDLY RATTIN'. I implore you. Not only would it be a sequel to a movie I love dearly, it would bring back my favorite character in any of your films: Brodie (I registered after I saw AMY, before I saw 'RATS...Brodie Fan might've been a better choice). So, I beg you to do 'RATS 2...proof of the audience for the flick is all those that exclaimed "Jay and Silent Bob" at the Sat. Matinee of SCREAM 3 I witnessed this past weekend.
Plus, between all the people I've lent 'RATS to, about 5 people have been exposed to the flick, adding to your sequel's audience.
So, I beg you to make this flick. If nothing but for all the things I love about 'RATS...the slapstick, the plotting (all the threads coming together-the characters all working into the finale-was the most "Movie"-ish thing you did in all three films). Please, please...do it for the fans.
And Congratulations on your decision to retire the Askewniverse. An artist has to grow, and I was afraid you'd be doing "Cousin Walter" movies your whole career, when DOGMA proves that there's a lot of room for you to stretch. I know you've mentioned a period piece a few times before; Mazel Tov.
And so, if you want my vote, MALLRATS 2 is a great idea...
But let's say, sake of argument, that T. S. and Brandi were killed when the shark malfunctioned, okay?

(Who was told Monday by a girl who saw me wearing my CLERKS shirt: "My Cousin's brother married a girl who's Uncle Al was the guy that died with the hard-on in the bathroom.")
