Hiya,
It's been a while (try, two years) since I've posted on this board... i guess it's been that long since I've had anything to say really... but, I just got finished reading Fletch, and I totally dug it... now, I remember when I was here last, there was some talk about you participating in another Fletch film (I have yet to watch the first two... going out to rent the DVD tonight)
I imagine that if something was to come of this any time soon, we would have heard more about it, so I don't feel to bad asking... Out of curiosity, how did you picture this new Fletch movie? Did you see Chevy Chase reprising the role? Had you intended on writing and directing it yourself?
another question...
Being a writing myself, I assume that you do the same thing that I do when you read a good book... which is to cast actors as the characters, and picture certain actors speaking the lines as you would have them, were you directing a film based on the novel... there are times when I can't go on with a book until I've figured out exactly who I would cast in the main roles (reading The Stand was a bitch... used up just about everyone in Hollywood on that one... great book though)... so, ideally... when you first read Fletch, (or, in retrospect now) who would you cast as Fletch? Having not seen the film yet, I didn't picture Chevy Chase at all... in fact, the first thing I thought of when I read it was Johnny Depp (mainly because Fletch reminded me of a cross between Hunter Thompson and James Bond).
anyway, sorry for rambling... I was just curious.
later
Joe
