Dear Kevin:

I joined this mainly to send you a note of appreciation for Dogma. I am a Catholic who is also gay. It has taken a while for me to come to terms with all aspects of my being, and Dogma helped. For the most part you seem very kind to the gay community and I appreciate that. I enjoyed how you played off all the rumours about Ben Affleck being gay for humour. If he doesn't take it seriously the rumours will go away. I would like to ask you about the theology you used in the movie. I have read you are a practising Catholic and your movie is obviously the work of a man questioning his faith. Personally, I beleive everyone should question their beliefs, or as Rufus says abandon them for ideas.I have seen the movie twice and cann't wait for it to come out on video. My partner and I saw it last night and the theater was almost full (on a Tuesday night!-OK it was a small theater, but none the less...). I have recommended this movie to everyone I know. What I have found is people seem to love or hate it, there is no middle ground. Any film that generates such passion is something to be admired and encouraged. Do you think Bartleby was just destroyed? Even though he committed such mayhem, he did have remourse. But then I wonder if Judas' remourse brought him any forgiveness. I would like to think so. Thanks for a wonderful movie and giving us all much to think about. As my partner says you need an open mind to enjoy this movie, and too many are shut.
Jim
