There are alot of reasons NOT to make Mallrats 2, the low box office takings from the original, its the type of movie that does not speak to everyone, and almost garanteed bagings from the critics...

You are right, mallrats found its ordience, I didn't even know the movie existed untill it arrived on video (im a View Askew novice), every one i know LOVES the movie, its a real classic. A 2nd movie would mark the return of one of the most loved and reveared icons of our time Brodie Bruce.
Even thoe you yearn to make the more serious movie, some would say "Real Movies", keep the View Askew title! People know it, love it, and it is reveared world wide. When ever i see View Askew i see Kevin Smith.
Lastly, Jay and his hetro life mate Silent Bob. As with View Askew they are icons, they should show up in ALL your movies, even if its just a camio apperance, its a trademark. ABUSE IT! The movies won't be Jay and Silent Bob type movies but people will idenify them with you, just as they associate vilonce and carnage with Quiten Taranteno.
I wait in anticipation for your upcomming movies.
