OK Kev, I know that you've already received approximately 200 kerjillion suggestions about what to do with this sequel, but here's one more. If you are concerned about the possible negative critical reaction toward doing two sequels in a row and devolving back into goofy humor instead of more "important" fare, then how about writing the script and getting someone you trust and who's on the same page as you to helm the thing? I would nominate HUBER McBoing-Boing himself, Brian Lynch for this job. As a friend, he would be completely reverential to your script, he is undeniably agile in the field of funny, and, best of all, he's an in-house player. Plus, he's already acquainted with most of the cast. You could still write the thing, be a hands-on producer, and step into the ring as Silent Bob and you wouldn't have to worry about some stranger behind the camera mucking the whole thing up nor that you are slacking as a director by helming deux sequels back-to-back.

One more suggestion: you could justify directing the back-to-back sequels by interlocking their plots. The story could start with Dante and Randal in Clerks 2 and could be resolved with Brodie in 'Rats 2. Or you could just intertwine the two like 'Go', where during Clerks 2 there could be a scene where the Quick Stop boys run into Brodie pursuing his own plot that we are at the time unclear of, and then in 'Rats 2, you could hit the same scenes from Brodie's angle, and Dante & Randal just make an appearance.

Well you asked for suggestions, so I gave 'em.
