Hey Kevin, I just gotta start off by saying that you are a god of sorts to me. I'm in film school at NYU and am one of the few who don't have a friggin' bug up their ass about good entertaining films. Now don't get me wrong, I like Fellini (but 8 1/2 sucked) and Truffoe and most of those artsy fartsy directors, but there is no reason to ever ever stick to those kinds of films. I'm in film school to make entertaining films, which I think that you do better than anyone I've ever seen. You truly are my idol, being both a filmmaker and a hardcore fanboy, both of which I am (albeit not as good the lesser). With that said, I'd like to say that most, not all, but most sequels suck, man. Though all of your films connect somewhat story-wise, none of them are true sequels. It would be hard getting the T.S. chracter or Brandy character to have a return viably, and the whole end of the first Mallrats ties things up rather nicely, unless it was some sort of What If.. alternate reality thing, which is a stretch at best. I could see a sequel with Jay, Bob, Willam and Gwen and maybe some new characters, that took place in between Clerks and Chasing Amy, since you really wouldn't see the somnabulic duo in a mall after this time, if what Jay says in Amy is true. I loved Mallrats, but I think another film in the Jersey series would be cooler and better received than a straight-up sequel, even though I'd be first in line to see both. Anywho, if you do indeed read these, thanks for taking the time and helping to inspire and drive someone to do what they love.
