: What's not cool is that airdate ABC gave us. Folks, May 31st pretty much
: insures the show's failure, in my book. Essentially, it seems the network
: doesn't like the show (odd, as they pursued it rather heavily at the start,
: and also told us to our faces how much they dug it). They held test
: screenings for the show in San Diego and Ohio at the start of February and
: got numbers they didn't like. Funny thing was, the audiences they
: recruited for the screenings were for another show, so a very key
: demographic was missing from the mix: the 18 to 24 year olds. This is
: comparable to test screening 'Dogma' for an audience of 55 to 80 year old
: priests. It's inane.
Indeed, I just hate the fact that somewhere in the middle of things, all these suits pop up everywhere and block the flow of a good thing happening.
Whether from the toy companies which can't make a decent regular version of the best characters yet can make thirty seven other varieties of the character, to this ABC thing. Not to mention Warner Bros. having their heads up their asses letting Joel Schumacher do anything related to Batman.
Why would they leave out the most important area of the demographic unless someone was really trying to screw you, Kev? C'mon..they don't run tampon commercials during football games...they put them on during the soap operas (which is just the kind of thing I wanna see while eating tomato soupfor lunch, right?). They know what their core audience is at any given time and as far as I've ever heard the idea to get a show to succeed was to appeal to the demographics most likely to watch it. However, I hope that the TV season sucks enough to make the audience crave something fresh and different without killing of the audience for the rest of the season.
: No offense to Regis, but how long do they think that show's going to be a
: hit if they keep airing the hell out of it. I guess it doesn't matter in
: short-sighted thinking, as the plan is to win this season, with little
: thought to the next. Which means that 'Millionaire' will pretty much be on
: ABC everytime you turn your television on, over the next few months.
: This is why t.v. sucks, folks. And - with the exception of 'The Simpsons',
: 'Law and Order', and 'The X-Files' - this is why I use my television solely
: as a means to watch DVD's, videos, and porn.
I find myself watching the Jeffersons and I Love Lucy on Nick at Nite all the time nowadays...I feel like an old man..but hey...at least they are funny. ABC could die for all I care...I'm sure that someone else would develop a "Whose Line.." type show anyways. As for millionaire, it already is on every time I turn on the tv...that and Dateline...well I don't care if they put the show on at 4 AM on sunday morning...I'll watch it and tape it and cherish it as long as I can. Now let's all be sure to spread the good word about Clerks TCS when it does finally come out...like some kind of TV reform party...except without all the in-fighting...

p.s. I had a friend who's tv blew up the other day...they must have been watching that terrible Sabrina the teenage witch crap!
