So I've participated in two letter writing campaigns; MST3K and Babylon 5 Crusade. One worked, and one (Crusade) didn't. What seemed to have made MST work was that a) There was another network that championed the cause and wanted the show - in this case Sci-fi. b) The letters reached people on the inside that could make a difference, and c) we wrote real letters. E-mail doesn't seem to carry the weight that an actual handwritten letter does. MST used these points as it's Patton-like attack. Crusade on the other hand chiefly used e-mail petitions. No one cares about those. Any schmuck can sign his name, and they know that. They also know that one schmuck can sign his name 10,000 times with the push of a button. They know that too. And I did it. The point is that someone needs to spearhead a logical plan of attack to actually have something like this work. You would need to find addresses to people who are inside ABC specifically linked with the show, and who wouldn't just get annoyed. Also, it's important to write to the sponsors and kiss their ass. The networks listen to the sponsors more than a thousand raving fan geeks. And if this doesn't work, we could always kidnap Neilson familiesw like in that Danny Devito movie.
